Whist - Lite 2.5

The classic game of Whist is a plain-trick card game designed for four players in fixed partnerships. Each partnership consists of two players who sit opposite each other at the table. The game employs a standard 52-card deck where the cards within each suit are ranked from highest to lowest as follows: A K Q J 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2.

The player situated to the left of the dealer initiates the first trick by leading any card of their choice. Subsequently, the other players must play a card from their hand in clockwise order. Players are required to follow suit by playing a card of the same suit as the one initially led, if possible. Should a player lack a card of the suit led, they are free to play any card from their hand.

The trick is won by the highest trump card played, or if there are no trump cards present, by the highest card of the suit originally led. The player who wins a trick then leads for the next one to be played. Once all 13 tricks have been completed, the team that secured more tricks than their opponents scores 1 point for each trick won beyond the initial six tricks. The first partnership to reach a total of 7 points is declared the victor of the game.
